Coming to Lacoste without the studio resource, I decided to take a more graphic fine art approach using lights and shadows. The best resource in a new country would be its own environment and people. Inspired by the work of Harry Callahan’s Aix-en-P

Coming to Lacoste without the studio resource, I decided to take a more graphic fine art approach using lights and shadows. The best resource in a new country would be its own environment and people. Inspired by the work of Harry Callahan’s Aix-en-Provence collection, it is created with the same concept in mind. The bright structured light striking through the shadows illuminate the people (or animals) on the streets. I chose color for this work, as opposed to Callahan’s black-and-white, to capture the colors of the buildings and streets of Provence, as well as the warm glow of the sun.
